Islamic Doctrine & Belief
Due to the fact that every generation witnesses a silent decline in worshippers' knowledge of the fundamental doctrines and beliefs of religion, constant efforts are required to elucidate and preserve the sources of this knowledge and to preserve them in the hearts and minds of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala's servants. The acquisition of knowledge is obligatory for every accountable muslim, for without it the appearance of conjecture and uneducated opinion is inevitable. Therein lies a danger that leads to an erroneous understanding of faith, which if left unchecked, may lead the seeker to a dangerous precipe from which he is unable to escape a serious fall.
The correct understanding of the signs of Allah Almighty, His Angels, His Books, His Prophets, the Day of Judgement, and the Divine Decree saves one from two extremes: denial of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala's attributes, and its opposite anthropomorphism, the relating of of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala's attributes to physical manifestations.
There is no better time than today to introduce these books to those for whom English is the mother tongue, for the subject of aqeeda (belief) has become one of controversy and confusion. These books provide a classical approach to understanding Islamic doctrine, based on some of the most accepted and reliable scholars of Ahl as-Sunnah w'al Jama'ah, the (The People of the Sunnah and the Majority).

Beliefs of the People of Islam (Aqa'id Ahl al-Islam) by Imam 'Izz ibn 'Abd al-Salam (577 - 660H)
Foreword by Shaykh Hisham Kabbani, Transl. and Notes by Dr. Gibril Fouad Haddad
'Abd al-Aziz ibn 'Abd al-Salam ibn Abu al-Qasim ibn al-Hasan, 'Izz al-Din al-Sulami 'alayhir rahman was born in Damascus in 577H. A Shafi'I scholar, he was educated in Damascus and was nicknamed the Sultan of Scholars. Ibn 'Abd al-Salam condemned the ruler of Greater Syria al-Salih Ismail ibn al-Adal from the pulpit for his surrender of the Palestinian fortress Safad to the Crusaders. He was imprisoned for this action. When finally freed, he moved to Cairo, where he was appointed as judge and imam of the Friday prayer. He gained such prestige that he was able to enforce the Islamic code of law with near impunity in the face of rulers and weaker-willed personalities.

Beliefs - Aqida : Encyclopedia of Islamic Doctrine [Vol 1]
Paperback - 232 pages by Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani
Excerpt Book Description : Have you ever wondered : What are the beliefs and doctrine of mainstream Islam as opposed to those who call themselves ''Salafis'' with regard to the Names and Attributes of Almighty Allah? Read the evidence and decide for yourself.
The author says in the introduction : ''Scholars have observed that the Community's (umma's) greatest achievement over the past millenium has undoubtedly been its internal intellectual cohesion. They point out how from the beginning of the Islamic era to almost the present day, Muslims have maintained an astounding sense of unity despite the clash of the numerous dynasties under which they lived. No major religious hostilities have divided Muslims. At least, this was true until the physical and intellectual assault on Islamic unity initiated by Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab (1703-1792 CE), his immediate successors and by the self-named ''Salafi'' sect of the present day.
One of Ibn Abd al-Wahhabs more enormous stupidities is that when reason contradicts his claims, he casts it aside and gives it no role in his judgement. He endeavours to make people like dumb beasts when it comes to matters of faith. He prohibits the involvement of reason in religious affairs, despite the fact that there is no contradiction between reason and faith. On the contrary, whenever human minds reach their full measure of completeness and perfection, religion's merits and prerogatives with regard to reason become totally manifest.
The author then explains how the beliefs held by the Wahhabi ''Salafi'' as opposed to the beliefs held by mainstream Islam are threatening every Muslim's Islamic heritage He offers this work and its proofs of the real Islam to those who wish to decide for themselves.

The Prophet : Commemorations, Visitation, and His Knowledge of the Unseen
Mawlid, Ziyara and Ilm al-Ghayb - Encyclopedia of Islamic Doctrine [Vol 3 ] Paperback -225 pages by Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani

Excerpt Book Description : Have you ever wondered: What do the Imams and Scholars of mainstream Islam say about the permissibility of commemorating the Prophet Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam's birthday (mawlid)? What about the view of a handful of modern ''Salafi'' scholars like Albani, Bin Baz, al-Jazairi, Mashhur Salman, Uthaymin and their followers who forbid it on the grounds that it is an innovation? Read the evidence and then decide for yourself.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, and Peace and Blessings upon His Prophet and Messenger Muhammad, his family and all his companions. In Islam there are two festivals (eid - id ) : id al-Adha and id al-Fitr. Other commemorations like that of the Beloved Prophet Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam's Birthday (mawlid), are neither obligatory nor forbidden. (Although many reason it should be compulsory). However, we have come to a time in which there is much complaining about the remembrance of the Beloved of Allah Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam's Birthday. These objections stem from the ''Salafi'' (Wahhabi/Deobandi type) movements whose followers search for anything that their scholars might consider doubtful and use it as an excuse to mock and denigrate the faith of other Muslims.
To commemorate the Beloved Prophet Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam's birthday is to celebrate Islam because the Beloved of Allah Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam is the symbol of Islam. This book presents the facts and proofs relating to the commemoration of the Beloved Prophet's Birthday (mawlid) according to the Qur'an, the Sunnah (tradition), and the scholars of Islam... ''
This valuable book also goes into extensive detail about visting (ziyara) the Beloved Prophet Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam's grave in Madina t'ul Munnawara, and provides comprehensive proof of the Beloved Prophet Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam'sKnowledge of the Unseen (ilm al-Ghayb).

The Brilliance of the Minarets : The Aqidah of Ibn 'Asakir
Paperback - 55 pages

Foreward : The knowledge of religion is amongst the best of the acts of obedience ; and it is the most worthy of allocating the precious time it takes to acquire it. This is especially so because at-Tirmidhi related that the Beloved Prophet, Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam said: ''Allah facilitates a route to Paradise for he who follows a route to seek knowledge.''
The greatest of all knowledge is that of the fundamentals of the creed. This is why the Beloved Messenger of Allah taught it to the Companions (sahaba-i kiram) prior to teaching them the rules of the Religion. In his book, Misbah az-Zujajah al-Busiriyy classified as sahih what ibn Majah related that Jundub ibn Abdullah, may Allah raise his rank, said: ''We were with the Beloved Prophet of Allah Salla Allahu 'alayhi wa Sallam, as young men. We learned the matters of the belief before we learned the Qur'an. Then we learned the Qur'an which added to our belief.''
The Aqidah (creed) of Shaykh Fakhr'ud-Din ibn 'Asakir, may Alah endow mercy upon him, contains a multiplicity of meanings in spite of its brevity. In it, the author summarised the creed of the Ahl as-Sunnah w'al Jama'ah with a few brief terms. Its words are easy for children to memorise and enjoyable for adults to study. Furthermore, it became famous among the Muslims. These qualities inspired us to explain its terms in order to facilitate learning and to propagate its message without using lenghty explanations.

Beliefs of Ahl us-Sunnah : Aqa'id Ahl-e-Sunnat (English)
Paperback - 152 pages by Sajid ul Hashemi
Preface : Deeds are like the body, while beliefs are like the soul. The body without a soul is not only useless, but also harmful. Therefore it is extremely essential for one to safegaurd and strive for excellence in one's beliefs and practices.
In the present day the minds of people are bombarded with an enormity of erroneous beliefs and ideologies. Under the guise of Islam many alleged Muslims are looting the wealth of Iman (faith) from our younger generation in the name of Qur'an and Sunnah.

Intercession : In the Light of Qur'an and Sunna
Paperback - 67 pages by Ukasha al-Tayyibi - Translated by Aisha Bewley

Praise be to Allah who's help we seek and whose forgiveness we ask. On the Day of Judgement Prophet Muhammad (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam) will be the only Prophet who will be granted permission to intercede to save mankind from the terrors of awaiting judgment on the Day of Rising. One must not fail to understand that matters which are great and insignificant, large or small are preordained confirmed in the knowledge of Allah. Surely Allah Almighty has decreed and determined the states of the intercessor, and for whom he intercedes. The author has taken an analytical approach to prove that inercession can only be granted by Allah's permission, and that Prophet Muhammad (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam) will intercede for mankind at five various levels, i.e. from the crossing of the Sirat to the height of peoples rank within the garden of paradise. Each chapter has been carefully researched and examined according the Qur'an and Hadith, and by reading this book Muslim and non-Muslims alike will have a greater and clearer understanding on the meaning of intercession and what it entails.

The Creed of Imam al-Tahawi Hardback - 168 pages
Appreciation for The Creed of Imam al-Tahawi
"Shaykh Hamza Yusuf’s is, in my opinion, by far the best rendition to date of this famous and very important treatise. We can expect no less of a scholar of the caliber of Shaykh Hamza Yusuf due to his command over his native tongue, English, as well as his acquired and well-learned Arabic." - Dr. Nizam Yaquby, Mufti of Bahrain
"Shaykh Hamza Yusuf has rendered a service not only to Muslims, but also to a wider audience by his new translation of the Creed of Imam al Tahawi accompanied by an illuminating historical introduction and by helpful biographies and extensive notes. His translation is formal without being archaic and is written in a style that Christians can recognize from their own credal formulations. The work is of value to others than Muslims, for two reasons: first, it provides in 130 short paragraphs a clear presentation of core Muslim belief in a way that is not easily available by other means, thereby providing a very positive instrument for the essential work of dialogue. Secondly, it provides Christians, who have also developed and continue to use credal formulations, with the opportunity to see just where the Islamic understanding of God comes close to the Christian understanding of God. This does much to reduce the credibility of approaches which insist on a thoroughgoing bipolar understanding of Christianity and Islam. Muslims and Christians should welcome this publication." - Dr. Rowan Williams, Archbishop of Canterbury, UK "By providing such an accurate, lucid, and theologically sensitive translation of Imam Tahawi's creed, Shaykh Hamza Yusuf has rendered a valuable service to Muslims and non-Muslims alike. This work will take its rightful place among the great works in the English-language Islamic library." -Imam Zaid Shakir, Resident Scholar, Zaytuna Institute "Hamza Yusuf’s Creed of Imam al-Tahawi is an important contribution to scholarship and to Muslim self-understanding. This fluid and accurate translation provides access and insight into a major scholastic work that sets out core Islamic beliefs/doctrines. It will be welcomed by Muslim and non-Muslim readers alike." -Dr. John L. Esposito, Director, Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding, Georgetown University, Washington, DC.

JA AL HAQ : The Obliteration of Falsehood (NEW : 2nd Edition) BACK IN STOCK Hardback - 600 pages [ ENGLISH ] by Mufti Ahmad Yaar Khan Na'imi Ashrafi alayhir rahman Translated into English: by Mawlana Omar Dawood Qadiri Mu'ini
ABOUT THE BOOK: The Obliteration of Falsehood is an English translation of Hadrat Mufti Ahmad Yaar Khan Ashrafi's Allah be pleased with him celebrated Ja 'al-Haqq, one of the most complete, recognised and irrefutable works on proving the practices and beliefs of the Muslim Ummah for the questions raised in the modern era.
In an age wherein an increasing number of individuals believe they have the right and power to deduce the fundamentals of Islam based on a superficial understanding of the Qur'an and Hadith, Ja 'al-Haqq stands tall as a testament to the unsurpassed examinations and watertight judgements produced by the eminent researchers in the history of Islam.
Why are Muslims Hanafi, Shafi'i, Maliki & Hanbali? Why do they celebrate the birth of the Beloved Prophet Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam ? What is the need to use the Prophet Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam as mediation to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala when Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala is constantly with us? The pen of Mufti Ahmad Yaar Khan Allah be pleased with him, leaves no stone unturned in answering these and many other objections currently forwarded to the traditional, Sunni Muslims of our age, confirming that Sunni Islam is still the only path founded on the Qur'an & Sunnah and demonstrating why it remains followed by the largest group of Muslims in the world.----Sayyad Muhammad Aleem ud-Din Asdaq Misbahi Aazmi (Founder, Rector & Principal of Darul Uloom Qadria Ghareeb Nawaz, Ladysmith, South Africa).

A Guide to the Conclusive Proofs for the Principles of Belief : (Kitab al-irshad)
Kitab Al-Irshad Ila Qawati Al-Adilla Fi Usul Ati Tiqad (Great Books of Islamic Civilisation)
By Imam al-Haramayn al-Juwayni Translated by: Paul E Walker
Paperback - 388 pages

About this book: This work, commonly known simply as a (The Guide) is a major classic of Islamic theology. Its author, Imān al-Haramayn al-Juwayni may Allah be pleased with him (d. 478/1085), was the leading Ash‘arite (Sunni) theologian of his time but he was more famous for his many important treatises on the principles of law and for having been the teacher of the great Imam al-Ghazzāli may Allah be pleased with him. Nevertheless, his writings in the field of theology, especially the present book, represent the high point of its development in the Islamic world until then.
Here the master sets out systematically what he considered the sure proofs for the principles of any discourse about God and His attributes, about what must be said concerning Him, and how the human being should understand what is possible in respect to God.
About the translator: The translator, Paul E. Walker, gained his Ph.D. in Near Eastern Languages and Civilisations at the University of Chicago and is a historian of ideas at the same university. He specializes in various aspects of Islamic thought in its classical phase (from the ninth to twelfth century) and has written a number of books about individual figures from that period.

Notions that must be Corrected by Sayyad Muhammad Alawi al-Maliki
Paperback - 334 Pages
By : Shaykh Muhammad 'Alawi al-Maliki al-Hasani May Allah be pleased with him Foreword by: Shaykh Hasanayn Muhammad Makhluf Translated by: Suraqah Abdul Aziz
Notions That Must Be Corrected is perhaps the most important and renowned work of the late Sayyid, Shaykh Muhammad b. ‘Alawī al-Maliki al-Hasani rahmatullahi alayh. Throughout his masterpiece the author offers valuable and wise words of caution against extremism and invites the Muslims to the path of Ahl al-Sunna wal-Jamā‘a, the hallmark of which is tolerance and moderation. Sayyid Muhammad expertly clarifies the correct position relating to numerous ‘controversial’ contemporary topics whilst maintaining strict adherence to the Qur’ān, the Sunna, and the way of the Salaf.
The book itself has been divided into three parts, the first of which is concerned with areas of research relating to Islamic doctrine, including clarifying the corruption found in the criterion for imputing others with disbelief and misguidance, as well as concepts such as intermediation and intercession. The second section deals with issues relating to the Beloved Prophet May Allah Bless him and Grant him Peace, including his unique characteristics, the reality of Prophecy, the reality of humanity, and the correct understanding of seeking blessings from the Beloved Prophet May Allah Bless him and Grant him Peace, and his relics. The final part deals with miscellaneous areas of research including the Isthmus life (barzakh), the legality of visiting the Beloved Prophet May Allah Bless him and Grant him Peace, and other related matters such as relics, sanctuaries, and festive religious occasions.
Scores of Islamic scholars hailing from all parts of the world wrote commendations for this work, while many more have taught from it, or written about it in their articles. The huge positive impact the book made in Islamic circles unfortunately led to hardship for the noble Shaykh in his home country due to misguided verdicts levelled against him. He was prevented from teaching in the Masjid al-Haram and his position at Umm al-Qurra’ University was also terminated. Numerous vicious personal attacks and baseless replies from those who opposed the methodology of Ahl al-Sunna were also published. In response to this, leading scholars throughout the world vehemently defended the noble Shaykh and wrote extensive and decisive refutations of his detractors.
''This book should be required reading for the Islamic world, and should be studied and taught to children because of the explicit truth, correct views and defence of Islam’s sanctities that it contains. This book clarifies the misguidance, lies, and false claims of the enemy, and certainly, Allah shall aid His righteous servants by aiding His religion.'' ---- Shaykh Hasanayn Muhammad Makhluf

Concept of Bid'a in the Islamic Shari'a : by Nu Ha Mim Keller
Paperback Booklet - 10 pages

From the Book: There are few topics that generate as much controversy today in Islam as what is sunnah and what is bid'a or reprehensible innovation, perhaps because of the times Muslims live in today and the challenges they face. Without a doubt, one of the greatest events in impact upon Muslims in the last thousand years is the end of the Islamic caliphate at the first of this century.
Beware of matters newly begun, for every matter newly begun is innovation, every innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance is in hell.
The first point is that scholars say that the above hadith does not refer to all new things without restriction, but only to those which nothing in Sacred Law attests to the validity of. The use of the word every in the hadith does not indicate an absolute generalization, for there are many examples of similar generalizations in the Qur'an and sunnah that are not applicable without restriction, but rather are qualified by restrictions found in other primary textual evidence.
The second point is that the sunnah and way of the Beloved Prophet (May Allah bless him and give him peace) was to accept new acts initiated in Islam that were of the good and did not conflict with established principles of Sacred Law, and to reject things that were otherwise.
And our third and last point is that new matters in Islam may not be rejected merely because they did not exist in the first century, but must be evaluated and judged according to the comprehensive methodology of Sacred Law, by virtue of which it is and remains the final and universal moral code for all peoples until the end of time.

Aqa'id an-Nasafi - Introduction to the Islamic Creed
Paperback/Booklet - 30 pages by Imam Abu Hafs an-Nasafi
Translated into English by: Dr Musharraf Hussain al-Azhari
Al 'Allamah, Imam Abu Hafs 'Umar ibn Muhammad an-Nasafi, May Allah be pleased with him (d. 537), was born in a town called Nasaf near Samarkand in Turkestan. He was a great Hanafi scholar and author of some one hundred books on such diverse topics as fiqh, literature, tafsir and so on. Amongst his numerous titles are: the magnanimous Imam, Leader of the Muslim and Star of Religion and Nation.
He wrote a short, succinct and accurate summary of the authentic Muslim beliefs in his popular work, 'Aqaa 'id an-Nasafi.
'Aqaa'id is the plural of 'aqidah, which means, 'to believe in something because of the certainty of its' truth.' This short treatise soon gained acceptance amongst the Ummah due to the fact that it was the most comprehensive and indeed complete summary on the subject of what the Muslim is to believe. This short tract has been highly praised by all the scholars for its brevity, accuracy and completeness.
Some 25 commentaries have been written on it. One of the most popular was the commentary written by S'ad ud-Din Taftazaani (d. 793 AH) May Allah be pleased with him. Since then, it has been taught in Islamic schools and seminaries throughout the world, particularly in Central and South Asia. The author has compiled and enumerated some 59 points of belief, each one of them being established by a Qur'anic ayah or a sahih hadith. There is a consensus about all these fundamental beliefs mentioned in its' pages and there is no disagreement about them.

Sirat ul Ahl us-Sunnah - Exposing the Beliefs of the Deviant Sects
Paperback - 452 pages by Sirat al-Muslimeen

It is important for the Muslims to know about the different sects and their leaders, who have camouflaged under the banner of the 'Ahl as-Sunnah w'al Jama'ah' but are attacking it from within.
Ever since the birth of the Wahhabism sect, Wahhabis, [and now their offspring the Deobandis/Tablighis] have always employed cunning tricks to deceive the Sunnis into adopting the Wahhabi doctrines. One such trick is that Wahhabis claim to be part of the Ahl as Sunnah, claiming to be the rightful heirs of the Salaf. This latter group of Wahhabis call themselves to be "Salafi", calling their movement "Al-Salafiyyah Movement." The reality is that their beliefs afford them relationship neither to the Salaf nor the Ahl as-Sunnah, for they really contradict the Ahl as-Sunnah doctrines (aqaid).
Imam and Hafiz of hadith Abu Ya'la rahmatullahi 'alayh narrates a hadith in his Musnad with the chain going back to the companion of the Beloved Prophet, Salla Allahu 'alayhi wa Sallam, Sayyedina Huzaifa Radi Allahu anhu, that the Beloved Prophet of Allah, Salla Allahu 'ta'ala alayhi wa Sallam, said;
"Verily, I fear about a man from you who will read the Qur'an so much that his face will become enlightened and will come to personify Islam. This will continue until Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala wishes when these things will be taken away from him when he will disregard them by putting them all behind him and attack his neighbour with the sword accusing him of Shirk. The Prophet was asked 'Which of the two was commiting Shirk? The attacker or the attacked?' The Prophet replied 'The attacker (the one accusing the other of Shirk)."
The classification of this Hadith is Jayyid.( Strong). Imam Ibn Kathir rahmatullahi 'alayhi, also recorded this hadith in his Tafsir under Surah Al-Araf.

A Book of Fateha and Funeral Rites Paperback - 120 pages
Fateha : A Salvation for the Dead
It is permissable and it is made clear from the Qur'an al kareem and Ahadith that to recite surah's, to give in charity and to do good acts for the deceased does indeed benefit them. It is in Ahadith that when a person prays for another Muslim brother, that prayer is accepted. This is because there is an Angel over the head of every person and when a person prays for the betterment of another that Angel says 'Aameen' and prays that he also be rewarded accordingly. It is obvious that du'a is the essence behind prayers. Therefore, it is necessary for Muslims to pray for their fellow Muslims which benefits them both, in this world and the Hereafter. ''And those who came after them (the Mujahir and the Ansar) say: ''O' Allah! Forgive us and our deceased brothers who came before us.'' - (Al Qur'an, 28 : 4) The Most Beloved Prophet, Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam, has stated : '' To offer prayers, ask forgiveness of parents, fulfil any promises that they had made, treat well those who were related through them, respect and honour their freinds are included in service to the parents after their death.'' - (Abu Daud) The followers of Wahhabi/Deobandi/Tablighi sects do not believe in saying any Du'a after Janazah Prayers, nor believe in saying Du'a after a burial nor in doing Khatam Shareef. For them when a person dies, their connection with the deceased is dead too. Recommended book for each household!! In Defense of The Sunnah by Dr Ibrahim Hakim al-Shaghour
Hardback - 345 pages An Analysis of the Theory and Practices of Tasawwuf

Written with the permission of Shaykh Noorrudeen Durkee
Synopsis: The purpose of this book is to educate the reader about some of the beliefs of Sufis and their practices, and to demonstrate how they are in full accordance with the Shari’a.
Tasawwuf, from the very beginning, has always been integral to the Deen, functioning as the realisation and implementation of the pillar of Ihsan in the being of the Muslim.
Tasawwuf is neither a madhhab, nor a sect, nor an ideology, nor a cult, nor a foreign import, nor an heretical invention. It is a science concerning the reality of Allah, His Messenger, May Allah bless him and grant him peace, and the self, transmitted faithfully and without interruption from the Prophet himself, upon him be peace. It is the belief of the writer that the current corruption of the Ummah and its degradation is a direct result of – among other things – the crumbling away of the pivotal pillar of Ihsan as realised through the practice of Tasawwuf and its principles. In the words of one Muslim leader, Syed Zayn al-Abedin: “Many calamities have befallen the Ummah during the last 200 years, but one of the worst has been the rejection of Tasawwuf. We find ourselves without coherent leadership and following self-proclaimed scholars who teach a dry, literalist and legalistic religion cut off from its traditional and spiritual heritage. In some cases, this develops into a harsh and uncompromising political ideology, with violent results. While we understand the sources of this ideology, we cannot condone its methods or attitude. Islamic civilisation, which was remarkably stable and united for over 1200 years, is now in a crisis of disunity.”
This volume contains many answers, rebuttals, and explanations carefully researched and presented from the Qur’an, authentic hadith, and the wisdom of many Islamic scholars. It is a textbook for anyone who is seeking the heart of Islam which has been hidden far too long from the general understanding of the people.

Extract from the Forward: ''This book is what you need when people who seem to know more than you, start asking you questions that you can't answer about certain aspects of aqidah and other subjects, and you find that in speaking with such people you 'wind-up' talking more about Ibn Taymiyyah and his followers than about Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and His Prophet, Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam. You find that their questions are accompanied by the heavy and frequent use of such phrases as ''bid'a'', ''makruh'' ''da'if'', ''haram,'' etc , and your questioners are insistent that you must accept what they mistakenly call: ''al-Manhaj as-Salaf'' lest you find yourself (according to them) outside of Islam and consigned (by them) to the Fire.
In their ignorance they claim to want to ''purify'' our deen by making unlawful what is lawful, prohibiting supererogatory acts of worship such as Mawlid, nisfu-l-Shaban, hadrah and group dhikr, all the while rejecting reverence and love of the Beloved Prophet, Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam, and the Awliya' Radi Allahu ta'ala anhum, burning books of Darood and awrad and calling their fellow muslims apostates, disbelievers, and idolaters, shedding their blood, confiscating their wealth and sowing discord and enmity from one end of the earth to the other. This book, ''In Defence of the Sunnah'' firmly rooted in Qur'an and Sunnah and the understandings of traditional Muslim scholars, speaks to and refutes a number of common arguments of the Wahhabi/Salafi (incl. Deobandi/Tablighi Jama'at) sects. I heartily recommend it to the sincere seeker and compliment my student, Sidi Ibrahim Muhammad Hakim al-Shaghour, for having written such a valuable and useful work. May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, bless him and his family and reward him for his defense of the Sunnah of our Beloved Prophet Muhammad, May Allah Almighty shower His Mercy and Blessings upon him.'' ---Shaykh Noorruddeen

Authors Introduction: '' I have written this book for every true believer and seeker of truth, and have confined myself to explaining only authentic doctrines without having recourse to the false and meaningless opinions of deviants. I have not employed the methods of argumentation and debate, nor have I mentioned the proofs of the theologists or the hair-splitting of the philosophers, in order that the reader may not be pitched into the whirlpool of uncertainty and confusion. Indeed, Allah is the Lord of Success and in His hands are the reins of fulfillment.'' --- Shaykh Abd 'al-Haqq Muhaddith Dehlwi

Azaan and Durood Shareef by Allamah Kaukab Noorani OkarviPaperback/Booklet - 18 pages
In this book, the distinguished preacher of the world of Islam and unequalled orator, Allamah Kaukab Nooranl Okarvi has presented a brief but very effective academic research work on the question of reciting Durood Shareef before and after Azaan. And the beauty of it lies in the fact that all arguments given here have been based on books written by those who call reciting Durood Shareef before and after Azaan as an innovation (bidat) and forbid such recital. The publication of this book has, besides putting a stop to the fatwa-mongering of the opponents, provided comfort and happiness to all the Ahl as-Sunnat wa Jama'at. Allah be praised that before and after Azaan and before Iqaamat (when the congregation stands up for Namaaz) Durood Shareef is recited in the Masaajld (Mosques) of the Ahle-Sunnat. Our opponents say that the (bid'at) innovation of reciting Durood Shareef before and after Azaan in South Africa has been introduced by Allamah Kaukab Noorani Okarvi. But the fact is that Allamah Okarvi has only renewed a Prophetic tradition and this is undoubtedly a good deed done by him for which he will receive a great reward from Allah Subhanahu. Insha Allah. NB: This book is a study of the permissibility of reciting Durood Shareef before and after the Adhaan.

The Issue of ''Kissing the Thumbs'' - on hearing the Blessed Name of the Beloved Prophet Muhammad, May Allah Bless him and grant him peace. Paperback/Booklet - 23 pages
by Allamah Muhammad Shafi'i al-Okarvi,RAHMATULLAHI 'ALAYHI When hearing the Muazzin proclaim, "Ash'hadu anna Muhammadar Rasoolullah," it is preferred (Mustahab) to kiss the two thumbs or the shahaadat finger and place them on the eyes. There are many deeni and worldly benefits associated to this, as well as numerous Ahadith documenting its practice. Doing so was even practiced by the Sahaba-e-Kiram, and Muslims everywhere perform it in the belief that it is Mustahab. Salaat-e-Mas'udi states, ''The Noble Messenger is reported to have said, "On the Day of Qiyaamat, I shall search for the person who used to place his thumbs on his eyes when hearing my name during the Adhaan. I shall lead him into Jannat, 23.1 - Vol. 2, Chapter 20 Book Conclusion: This entire discussion establishes that kissing and placing the thumbs during the Adhaan, etc. is Mustahab. It is found as the Sunnat of' Sayyadina Hadrat Adam, 'alayhis as-salam, Hadrat Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, Radi Allahu ta'ala anhu, and Imam Hasan, Radi Allahu ta'ala anhu. Even Imams of the Shafi'i and Maaliki Mad'habs have ruled it to be Mustahab. In every era, Muslim deemed this practice to have this very ruling, along with many spiritual benefits. NB: This book is a study of the permissibility of 'Kissing the Thumbs and Rubbing the Eyes' upon the Beloved Prophet's Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam, name.

The Concept of Bidah Booklet - 15 pages
by Manazir al-Islam Professor Saeed Ahmed Asad Sahib Rendered into English by Mawlana Sajid Younus Today some people openly criticise many of the actions of the Ahl al-Sunnah w'al Jama'at as Bidah (innovation). Whenever a gathering is organised on the joyous occassion of the Prophets' Birth - a fatwa of bidah is immediately issued. Even before the Essale-Thawaab of the deceased has been arranged, or where-ever Durood is recited before or after the adhaan more fatawa's of bidah are heard. It is within this enviroment that it is deemed appropriate to present the true context and concept of bidah. More books on Bidah

Ilm-ul-Qur'an
Hardback - 218 pages by Mufti Ahmad Yar Khan Naeemi al-Ashrafi

English Translation by : Prof Sayyad Mazhar Ali Adeeb
About this book - As the words of a speaker translate his inner message, the translation of the speech reflects its general meaning (tenor). While evaluating the translation of a speech or a piece of writing, it is seen how faithfully the translation presents its underlying idea. The quality of the translation signifies its true standard. The translation which does not clarify the correct idea of the text or if it fails to convey its true sense comprehensively, it is not considered a good translation. Nor can one expect fruitful results or rewarding benefits from such translation. Conequently it is very important to see that the real message of the word is not lost while translating it.
All men of learning know full well that on the eve of such critical nature, even a slight error can become the cause of acute disagreement and a little negligence can give rise to sectarian chaos. Differences occurred in belief and doctrine, not only in the Qur'an but in aHadith too. Hakeem al-Ummah, Mufti Ahmad Yar Khan Naeemi, May Allah be pleased with him, has embodied all such issues concerning translation, that have become disputed these days. He has elaborated all the rules of translation of terminology and proved their authenticity and accuracy with the help of cogent reasons and arguments so that the readers may differentiate between correct and incorrect translation and thus, save himself from possible error.
