The Compendium of Knowledge and Wisdom Jami' al-'Ulum wa'l-Hikam

Hardback - 870 pages              by Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali          Translated by Abdassamad Clarke

The Compendium of Knowledge and Wisdom is the translation by Abdassamad Clarke of the masterwork of Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali
May Allah be pleased with him, the Jami' al-'ulum wa;l-hikam, which is his commentary on fifty hadith including the Forty of Imam an-Nawawi May Allah be pleased with him.

Every hadith is one of those considered by the 'ulama essential for knowledge of the deen. The topics range from the most exacting treatments of the affairs of the shari'ah to luminous expositions of the spiritual sciences of Islam.

Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali May Allah be pleased with him : Zayn an-Din ‘Abd ar-Rahman ibn Ahmad ibn ‘Abd ar-Rahman (known as Rajab) ibn al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn Abi’l-Barakat Mas’ud al-Baghdadi ad-Dimashqi al-Hanbali (736-795 AH). Rajab was the nickname of his grandfather ‘Abd ar-Rahman, perhaps because he was born in that month. Born in Baghdad, Ibn Rajab learned much from his father, who himself was a great scholar, and then studied in Egypt and Damascus where he settled down until he died. Among his eminent teachers were Abu’l-Fath Muhammad ibn Muhammad ibn Ibrahim al-Mayduni, Muhammad ibn Isma’il al-Khabbaz, Ibrahim ibn Dawud al-Attar, Abu’l-Haram al-Qalanisi, and Imam Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah. He was a colleague of the famous hadith expert Al-Hafiz Abu’l-Fadhl al-Iraqi. He devoted himself to the subject until he became an expert in all the sciences related to hadith. He then taught hadith and fiqh according the Hanbali school in the Jami’ Bani Umayyah and other seats of learning in Damascus. His famous students include scholars like Abu’l-Fadhl Ahmad ibn Nasr ibn Ahmad, the Mufti of Egypt (d. 844 AH), Dawud ibn Sulayman al-Mawsili May Allah be pleased with them (d. 844 AH). He was a leading scholar of the Hanbali school. His work al-Qawa’id al-Kubra fi al-Furu’ is clear evidence of his expertise in fiqh, demonstrating an extreme, even exhaustiveknowledge of the intricacies of detailed fiqh issues. He was known for piety and righteousness. His sermons were considered most effective, full of blessing and beneficial. People of all schools were unanimous as to his quality, and hearts of the people were full of love for him. He was not involved in any worldly business, nor did he visit people of material position. He wrote a detailed 20-Volume scholarly commentary on the Sunan at-Tirmidhi, a commentary on part of Sahih al-Bukhar, a Dhayl (supplement) to Tabaqat al-Hanabilah, al-Lata’if fi wasa’if al-ayyam, Bayan fadl ‘ilm as-Salaf ‘ala al-Khalaf.

Among his best known most referenced works is Jami’ al-‘Ulum wa al-Hikam, the commentary on al-Arba’un (the forty hadith) of Imam Nawawi. He added eight hadith to the original 42 and commented in detail on all of these fifty hadith. This commentary discusses all aspects of the hadith, the chain of narrations, the narrator and the text.

Hafiz Ibn Hajar al-‘Asqalani May Allah be pleased with him said of him, ‘’He was a great expert in the sciences of hadith – the historical accounts of narrators, the chains of narrations, and meaning of the text.

The Muwatta of Imam Muhammad     by Imam Muhammad ibn al-Hasan al-Shaybani

Paperback - 600+ pages         Translated by Mohammed Abdurrahman & Abdassamad Clarke

This is the Revised 2010 Paperback Edition

"The unqualified truth is that all of the Muwatta is sahih without any exception!" —Hafiz Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani

This quote from one of the greatest authorities on hadith of all time is sufficient recommendation. The version of the Muwatta narrated by Imam Muhammad ibn al-Hasan al-Shaybani May Allah be pleased with him, one of the two leading pupils of Imam Abu Hanifah May Allah be pleased with him, directly from his three years of study with Imam Malik May Allah be pleased with him  will be of particular interest not only to students of Hanafi fiqh, but also to students of hadith in general.

Imam Malik May Allah be pleased with him composed the Muwatta’ over a period of forty years to represent the “well-trodden path” of the people of Madina. Its name also means that it is the book that is “many times agreed upon”— about whose contents the people of Madina were unanimously agreed—and that is “made easy and facilitated”. Its high standing is such that people of every school of fiqh and all of the imams of hadith scholarship agree upon its authenticity. Imam Shafi’i said, “There is not on the face of the earth—after the Book of Allah—a book which is more sahih than the book of Malik.” Shah Wali Allah Dihlawi May Allah be pleased with him (1114-1176 AH) said, “My breast expanded and I became certain that the Muwatta’ is the most sahih book to be found on the earth after the Book of Allah.”

Imam Malik May Allah be pleased with him is the Imam of the Imams, the leader of the people of knowledge of Madinah, Malik ibn Anas ibn Malik ibn Abi ‘Amir al-Asbahi al-Madani, born in 94 AH, 95 AH or even 99 AH. He was called the Man of Knowledge of Madina. People of knowledge understood that it was him the Prophet May Allah bless him and grant him peace saw indicated in the hadith from Abu Hurayra, “People will soon beat the livers of their camels [in travelling in search of knowledge] but they will not find a man of knowledge more knowledgeable than the man of knowledge of Madina.” Among his pupils were the Imams Sufyan ath-Thawri, Sa’id ibn Mansur, ‘Abdullah ibn al-Mubarak, ‘Abd ar-Rahman al-Awza’i who was older than him, Layth ibn Sa’d who was one of his peers, Imam ash-Shafi’i, Muhammad ibn al-Hasan al-Shaybani, the Malikis ‘Abd ar-Rahman ibn al-Qasim, Yahya ibn Yahya al-Laythi, Ibn Wahb, and Dhu’n-Nun al-Misri. He died in 179 AH on the morning of the 14th of Rabi’ al-Awwal.

Imam Muhammad al-Shaybani May Allah be pleased with him: He is Abu ‘Abdullah Muhammad ibn al-Hasan ibn Farqad al-Shaybani. Muhammad was born in Wasit in 132 AH, and grew up in Kufa. He was a pupil of Imam Abu Hanifah May Allah be pleased with him. Imam Shafi’i May Allah be pleased with him said, “I have not seen anyone more eloquent than him. I used to think when I saw him reciting the Qur’an that it was as if the Qur’an had been revealed in his language.” He also said, “I have not seen anyone more itelligent than Muhammad ibn al-Hasan.” Imam al-Dhahabi May Allah be pleased with him said, “He narrated from Malik ibn Anas and others, and he was one of the great oceans of knowledge and fiqh, and he was strong [when he narrated] from Malik.” Imam Muhammad May Allah be pleased with him said, “I stood at Malik’s door for three years and I heard [the Muwatta’] from him [with] more than seven hundred hadith.” He died in Rayy in 189 AH.

An Introduction to the Science of the Hadith- (Kitab Mar’rifat Anwa’ ‘Ilm al-Hadith)

By Ibn al-Salah al-Shahrazuri                            Series: Great Books of Islamic Civilization

Translated by Eerik Dickinson                                            Reviewed by Professor Muneer Farid

 Paperback - 384 pages

About this book : After the Qur'an itself, the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad may Allah bless him and grant him peace form the most important foundation of Islamic thought. The hadith were accounts -- usually brief -- of the words and actions of the Beloved Prophet may Allah bless him and grant him peace . As such, they were subjected to intense scrutiny by generations of Muslim scholars.

Better know as the Muqaddima, Ibn al-Salah may Allah be pleased with him (1181-1245 CE) composed this work while serving as the head of the Dar al-Hadith al-Ashrafiya in Damascus, one of the most prestigious institutions for the study of hadith in the Islamic world. He provides a complete overview of the science devoted to the study of the words and actions of the Prophet Muhammad may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and also a guide to the terminology and techniques of the scholars of hadith as it summarises most of the previous work on the subject and forms the basis of almost all later activity in the field.

The book enjoyed immense popularity and influenced most subsequent writing on the subject.

About the translator : The translator Eerik Dickinson has degrees from the Universities of Michigan and Yale. He has taught Arabic and Islam at Yale and Hunter College in New York City. In addition to publishing articles on hadith and the Arabic biographical tradition in learned journals, he has contributed to the 'Encyclopedia of Islam', the 'Encyclopedia of the Qur'an and Medieval Islamic Civilisation: An Encyclopedia.'  His first book The Development of early Sunnite Hadith Criticism appeared in 2001.

Volume 1 Hadith History & Principles
Shaykh Gibril Fouad Haddad

With Ibn Hajar al-`Asqalani’s Nukhbat al-Fikar
Translated by Musa Furber

It pleased our bountiful Creator to make knowledge of Hadith and its ancillary sciences the exclusive characteristic of Muslim civilisation. Alone among the nations that walked the face of the earth, this Ummah received and kept this Divine trust together with the Last Testament -the Qur'an- to pass it on to subsequent generations unchanged with an ever-refined array of disciplines for verification and authentication.

Among those disciplines, Hadith methodology and criticism ensured that nothing alien crept into the pure Prophetic Sunna as conveyed by upright and precise transmitters under the strict perusal of their peers and subsequent experts. When Ibn al-Mubarak was asked about the forged hadiths he replied, "The giant scholars dispose of them!" Then he recited, Lo! We, even We, have revealed the Reminder, and lo! We verily are its Guardian (15:9). Thus he reiterated in the pithiest way that the Prophetic Sunna and authentic Hadith are part and parcel of the Final Revelation - which no Muslim denies!- and that the Lawgiver preserves His Dhikr through the surest human means imaginable.

Sunna Notes
Studies in Hadith and Doctrine
Volume 2: The Excellent Innovation in the Qur’an & Hadith
By Shaykh Gibril Fouad Haddad

With Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali’s
The Sunna of the Caliphs

Nowhere in the field of Islamic jurisprudence is a blatant tampering with the truth felt more than in the redefinition of "Sunna" and "bid'a". The understanding of the pious Salaf such as Imam al-Shafi'i for these terms is arrogantly cast aside. Their crystal-clear distinction: "Bid'a is of two kinds: praiseworthy innovation and blameworthy innovation" is being abandoned, while in their place. later, controversial figures are invoked as "more representative of the Salaf". Newfangled theories worm their way into the discourse on right and wrong and -even worse- entire generations of Muslims have been weaned on these perversions of the truth and go into the world parroting the terms "Sunna" and "bid'a" without ever understanding them. Choice victims for this campaign of disinformation in our time are English-speaking Muslims, especially new Muslims. They learn a few expressions then, coiffed with their new hat of condemnatory phrases, go out and blast away at other Muslims.

The purpose of this book is to do away once and for all with these perilous misconceptions and to present over 160 proofs for the Sunni understanding of Sunna and bid'a as it was -and continues to be- set forth in classical, moderate, mainstream Islam according to the Sunni Salaf and Khalaf including the Four Schools of Fiqh.

The KITAB al-ATHAR of Imam Abu Hanifah

Hardback - 713 pages                                    by Imam Muhammad Ibn al-Hasan ash-Shaybani

The Kitab al-Athar of Imam Abu Hanifah In the narration of Imam Muhammad Ibn al-Hasan ash-Shaybani

The Kitab al-Athar was the first book composed in Islam after the generation of the Companions. Al-Imam al-A’zam Abu Hanifah Nu’man ibn Thabit May Allah be pleased with him wrote it. It comprises Ahadith that connect directly back to the Beloved Messenger of Allah Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam (marfu’), those which stop short at a Companion or one of the Followers (mawquf) and those which are attributed to the Beloved Messenger of Allah Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam directly by one of the Followers or Followers of the Followers without attribution to a Companion (mursal).

His companions Imam Abu Yusuf, Imam Zufar, Imam Muhammad, Imam al-Hasan ibn Ziyad, Imam Hammad ibn Abi Hanifah (May Allah be pleased with them all) the Imam’s son, Hafs ibn Ghiyath and others narrated it from him.

In the version before us, Imam Muhammad, himself a mujtahid, narrated each tradition from Imam Abu Hanifah and then followed each with some  explanatory material, sometimes confirming and occasionally differing with his Imam.

Imam Abu Hanifah: Imam Abu Hanifah May Allah be pleased with him was from Kufa and was one of the  Followers (taabi’oon). He was born in 80 AH in a family of Persian ancestry. Imam Abu Hanifah was a trader  in fabrics. He studied with the great scholars of Kufa  who transmitted the schools of Ibn Mas’ud May Allah be pleased with him and Amir al-Momineen ‘Ali  ibn Abi Talib May Allah be pleased with him in particular, but he also travelled  further afield in search of hadith and fiqh. He was  noted for his exceptional grasp of fiqh, and is said to have laid its foundations. He died in 150 AH in Baghdad.

His list of teachers is very extensive, and his list of pupils a roll-call of honour.

Sahl ibn Muzahim said, “Abu Hanifah’s knowledge  was universal knowledge.” Ash-Shafi’i May Allah be pleased with him said, “In fiqh people are the needy dependents of Abu Hanifah.”

Imam Muhammad : He is Abu ‘Abdillah Muhammad ibn al-Hasan ibn  Farqad ash-Shaybani. Muhammad was born in Wasit in 132 AH, and grew up in Kufa. He was a pupil of Abu Hanifah. Ash-Shafi’ee said, “I have not seen anyone more eloquent than him. I used to think when I saw him reciting the Qur’an that it was as if the Qur’an had been revealed in his language.” He also said, “I have not seen anyone more intelligent than Muhammad ibn al-Hasan.” He died in Ray in 189 AH.

The Way of Muhammad                      by Shaykh Abd 'al-Qadir as-Sufi

Paperback - 284 pages

Preface

It was with a certain reluctance that I agreed to a new edition of this early work of mine, and this only after some minor editing to remove errors which I can now perceive. The original intention of the work was to show that it was possible to grasp the meaning of Islam in terms of the European existential tradition. Indeed, it is of course the culmination of it. Ironically, the effect of the book was not in the main to open Europeans to Islam, but to restore to those who had gone out of the Deen, especially Arabs, a sense of respect and discovery in relation to Islam.

The book is simply a meditation of the five pillars of Islam as viewed by someone who has taken them on and is savouring their meanings. However, now with a lifetime of Islam to contemplate I would want to express the whole matter differently without denying the basic personal truths I tried to indicate in this text. Today the enemies of Islam all explain that the danger of it is that it is not merely a metaphysical construct but is something that affects the whole of life. Yet, after a quarter of millennium of western occupation of Muslim lands, first in colonialism and then by the ethos of technology it can be shown that, tragically, we have abandoned Deen in its totality.

The response of the free-acting people of this age will be to obey the order of Allah, glory be to him, in Qur'an: "Enter Islam in its totality." (Qur'an 2.206). It can also be translated: "Enter Islam all together."---by Shaykh Abd 'al-Qadir as-Sufi

Collection Of Forty Hadiths - On the Duty of Loving the Noble Family of the Prophet Muhammad (may Allah bless him and grant him peace)

In this collection of 42 hadith, al-Hafiz al-Kattani May Allah be pleased with him tackles a subject that has been neglected by modern Islam and yet is one that lies at the core of the religion, namely, the love of the noble family of the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). Authentication of Hadith :   Redefining The Criteria

 Paperback - 239  pages

Author : Israr Ahmad Khan

Synopsis: In today’s complex and volatile world the consequences of relying on fraudulent and counterfeit Hadith to legitimise extremist behaviour, issue violent fatwas, and justify blatant abuse, particularly of women, is not only far too easy but in fact dangerous.

Israr Khan addresses the sensitive topic of Hadith authentication, focusing on the criteria adopted by classical scholars to maintain that concentration on the continuity and accuracy of the chain of narrators, rather than the textual content of Hadith, has led to particular Hadith being included which either contradict other Hadith directly, project the Prophet May Allah bless him and grant him peace, in an uncharacteristic light, or do not reflect and/or conflict with the teachings of the Qur’an.

The study traces in careful detail the historical development of the oral and written traditions, as well as the many targeted attempts at fabrication that took place, critiquing in methodical detail certain Hadith which have come to be widely accepted as “authentic.” The prominent collections we have today, were made possible by the development of the science of Hadith criticism, and Muslim scholars deserve deep appreciation for their painstaking work, as well as their invaluable contribution towards preserving the Hadith literature to the best of their ability. However, insists the author, the process is ongoing, and the closed door policy which currently surrounds Hadith authentication needs to be carefully re-examined.

In Light of Sacred Traditions of the Beloved : English Transl. of Anwar al Hadith

Hardback - 477 pages

Author: Faqih ul-Millah ; Hadrat Allama Mufti Jalal al-Din Ahmad al-Qadiri al-Amjadi [d.1421 AH / 2001 CE], May Allah be pleased with him.

English Translation and Notes by:
Mawlana Muhammad Kalim al-Qadiri al-Azhari

Small extract from
Preface:'' The necessity for such a book was greatly felt by Faqih ul-Millah, Allama Mufti Jalal al-Din Ahmad al-Qadiri al-Amjadi, May Allah be pleased with him, and thus he compiled this book.

The language used in
Anwar al Hadith  is simple and easy to understand.  Islamic rulings have been mentioned in quite an extraordinary style by laying the Ahadith in the sequence of Fiqh chapters. Ahadith have been collected from Sunan, Musannafat, Jawami' and Athar and frequently we see the Ahadith being commented upon by the sayings of our pious scholars. Such a great book is clear evidence of the author (Faqih-e-Millat) being a Master in the the fields of scared knowledge; more specifically Fiqh and Hadith.

The English translation however much possible, has been kept close to the original words in urdu. In some places the urdu passages have been translated into English not word-for-word but the meaning of it, yet the originality still exists; as well as the translation. Footnotes have also been added to explain meanings in more detail, which has added to the benefit of this book.

There are many books written on various topics and different subjects all relating to Islam, however there is scarcity of such literature, which correctly propagate the true teachings of Islam. We are without doubt, in great need of such literature in the English language. '' --- Shaykh Manzar ul Islam al-Azhari, North Carolina, USA.

Selections from the FATH AL BARI  - (‘Victory of the Creator’)

Paperback - 42 pages

Introduction : The booklet intends to introduce non-Arabic speakers to one of the most seminal genres of Muslim religious literature, namely, the hadith commentary. It is surprising that no serious translations at present exist from this voluminous and influential body of writing, given that there are few hadith which can be understood adequately without reference to the often complex debates which have taken place concerning them between the scholars. These discussions have included investigations of the precise linguistic and lexicological meaning of the Prophetic speech, studies of the isnad, debates over the circumstances surrounding the genesis of each hadith (asbab al-wurud), and issues of abrogation by stronger or later hadiths or by Qur’anic texts. Sufyan ibn ‘Uyayna, the great early hadith scholar, used to remark: al-hadith madilla illa li’l-‘ulama’: ‘the hadith are a pitfall, except for the scholars.’ For this reason no Muslim scholar of repute uses a hadith before checking the commentaries to ascertain its precise meaning, context, and application.

The importance of this literature may be gauged by the fact that at least seventy full commentaries have been written on Imam al-Bukhari’s great Sahih. The best-known of these include al-Kawakib al-Darari by Imam Shams al-Din al-Kirmani (d. AH 786), ‘Umdat al-Qari by Imam Badr al-Din al-‘Ayni (d.855), and the Irshad al-Sari by Imam Ahmad ibn Muhammad al-Qastallani (d.923). However the most celebrated is without question the magnificent Fath al-Bari (‘Victory of the Creator’) by Imam Ibn Hajar al-‘Asqalani, a work which was the crown both of its genre and of the Imam’s academic career. It is appreciated by the ulema for the doctrinal soundness of its author, for its complete coverage of Bukhari’s material, its mastery of the relevant Arabic sciences, the wisdom it shows in drawing lessons (fawa’id) from the hadiths it expounds, and its skill in resolving complex disputes over variant readings. For Bukhari’s text has not come down to us in a single uniform version, but exists in several ‘narrations’ (riwayat), of which the version handed down by al-Kushmayhani (d.389) on the authority of Bukhari’s pupil al-Firabri is the one most frequently accepted by the ulema. This is, for example, why the new and definitive edition of the Sahih, through the authorized narration of the best-known hadith scholar of recent times, Shaykh al-Hadith ‘Abdallah ibn al-Siddiq al-Ghimari, uses the Firabri version (for this text see www.thesaurus-islamicus.li). Ibn Hajar frequently uses the Kushmayhani variant as his standard text, but gives his reasons, often in complex detail, for preferring other readings where these seem to have particular merit. In Defense of The Sunnah                      by Dr Ibrahim Hakim al-Shaghour

Hardback - 345 pages                An Analysis of the Theory and Practices of Tasawwuf

Written with the permission of Shaykh Noorrudeen Durkee

Synopsis: The purpose of this book is to educate the reader about some of the beliefs of Sufis and their practices, and to demonstrate how they are in full accordance with the Shari’a.

Tasawwuf, from the very beginning, has always been integral to the Deen, functioning as the realisation and implementation of the pillar of Ihsan in the being of the Muslim.

Tasawwuf is neither a madhhab, nor a sect, nor an ideology, nor a cult, nor a foreign import, nor an heretical invention. It is a science concerning the reality of Allah, His Messenger, May Allah bless him and grant him peace, and the self, transmitted faithfully and without interruption from the Prophet himself, upon him be peace. It is the belief of the writer that the current corruption of the Ummah and its degradation is a direct result of – among other things – the crumbling away of the pivotal pillar of Ihsan as realised through the practice of Tasawwuf and its principles. In the words of one Muslim leader, Syed Zayn al-Abedin: “Many calamities have befallen the Ummah during the last 200 years, but one of the worst has been the rejection of Tasawwuf. We find ourselves without coherent leadership and following self-proclaimed scholars who teach a dry, literalist and legalistic religion cut off from its traditional and spiritual heritage. In some cases, this develops into a harsh and uncompromising political ideology, with violent results. While we understand the sources of this ideology, we cannot condone its methods or attitude. Islamic civilisation, which was remarkably stable and united for over 1200 years, is now in a crisis of disunity.”

This volume contains many answers, rebuttals, and explanations carefully researched and presented from the Qur’an, authentic hadith, and the wisdom of many Islamic scholars. It is a textbook for anyone who is seeking the heart of Islam which has been hidden far too long from the general understanding of the people.

Extract from the Forward:
''This book is what you need when people who seem to know more than you, start asking you questions that you can't answer about certain aspects of
aqidah and other subjects, and you find that in speaking with such people you 'wind-up' talking more about Ibn Taymiyyah and his followers than about Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and His Prophet, Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam. You find that their questions are accompanied by the heavy and frequent use of such phrases as ''bid'a'', ''makruh'' ''da'if'', ''haram,'' etc , and your questioners are insistent that you must accept what they mistakenly call: ''al-Manhaj as-Salaf'' lest you find yourself (according to them) outside of Islam and consigned (by them) to the Fire.

In their ignorance they claim to want to ''purify'' our deen by making unlawful what is lawful, prohibiting supererogatory acts of worship such as Mawlid, nisfu-l-Shaban, hadrah and group dhikr, all the while rejecting reverence and love of the Beloved Prophet, Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam, and the Awliya' Radi Allahu ta'ala anhum, burning books of Darood and awrad and calling their fellow muslims apostates, disbelievers, and idolaters, shedding their blood, confiscating their wealth and sowing discord and enmity from one end of the earth to the other. This book, ''In Defence of the Sunnah'' firmly rooted in Qur'an and Sunnah and the understandings of traditional Muslim scholars, speaks to and refutes a number of common arguments of the Wahhabi/Salafi (incl. Deobandi/Tablighi Jama'at) sects. I heartily recommend it to the sincere seeker and compliment my student, Sidi Ibrahim Muhammad Hakim al-Shaghour, for having written such a valuable and useful work. May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, bless him and his family and reward him for his defense of the Sunnah of our Beloved Prophet Muhammad, May Allah Almighty shower His Mercy and Blessings upon him.'' ---Shaykh Noorruddeen

 AL-ADAB AL-MUFRAD :                                                          IMAM BUKHARI
A CODE FOR EVERDAY LIVING: THE EXAMPLE OF THE EARLY MUSLIMS

Hardback - xxx (30) + 274 pages                                          Edited by Iqbal Ahmed Azmi

Contributions by Aisha and Abdul Haq Bewley

Translated from the original Arabic into
English, provides a vivid insight into the moral conduct of the early Muslims in a society led by the perfect character of the Prophet Muhammad, May Allah bless him and grant him peace. The Prophet's Companions represent excellent examples of men of vigorous moral stature whose conduct inspired and attracted the masses to the fold of Islam wherever they went during the expansion of Muslim territories, and contrary to the stereotypic portrayal, in the West, of Islam as being spread by the sword.

The Prophet's May Allah bless him and grant him peace words are as relevant today as they were fourteen hundred years ago.

This unique collection of
1322 ahadith and athar is one of the earliest and most authentic works on Islamic etiquette and the Islamic way of life. Not only are they practical and inspiring, they also fulfil a desperate need for authoritative guide on morality and spirituality for Muslims living in a modern, secular society, where the line between right and wrong is increasingly blurred.

This book is an essential cornerstone of Islamic morality and is suitable for the general reader and the academic alike. Its author, Imam Bukhari (194-256AH / 810 - 870 CE) is the most celebrated figure in Islamic literary history. "Al-Adab Al-Mufrad" is an absolutely essential addition to every Islamic library.
